Sam Roberts, a local Cape Coral resident, discovered a large pothole in front of his home along SW 28th Terr, just off Skyline Boulevard, while walking his dog last Friday.
"It was several feet deep," he said as he described how his dog spotted it first.
The pothole quickly became a neighborhood talker, with local resident Dana Warren spotting a large tree branch humorously placed inside it.
"That's one way to bring attention to it," she said.
Warren explained that the pothole started as just a tiny hole, but significantly grew to a large crater in the road after Hurricane Milton.
NBC2 saw the moment when city crews began repairs, with asphalt work to be done next.
The city of Cape Coral advises residents to report potholes by calling 311 or using the 311 app instead of taking matters into their own hands.
However, people living in the Cape Coral neighborhood appreciate the lighthearted way someone addressed the pothole.
