Tropical Storm Nadine formed in the far western Caribbean Sea overnight and is forecast to make landfall later today over the Yucatan Peninsula.
Tropical Storm Oscar also formed this morning south of the Bahamas, and the National Hurricane Center will issue the first advisory at 11 a.m.
Tropical storm warnings have been issued for parts of Belize and Mexico.
Thankfully for Florida, a strong ridge of high pressure over the central U.S. will keep the system moving west and well south of our state.
Elsewhere in the tropics, the odds for tropical development were reportedly increasing this morning for a tropical wave north of Hispaniola.
The National Hurricane Center gave the disturbance a 90% chance of developing, and now it has formed into Tropical Storm Oscar.
The good news is regardless of development, the system is not a threat to Florida or the U.S. mainland as wind shear and steering currents will keep the system away from our area.
