Tropical Storm Nadine formed in the far western Caribbean Sea overnight and is forecast to make landfall later today over the Yucatan Peninsula.
Tropical storm warnings have been issued for parts of Belize and Mexico.
Thankfully for Florida, a strong ridge of high pressure over the central U.S. will keep the system moving west and well south of our state.
Elsewhere in the tropics, the odds for tropical development are increasing this morning for a tropical wave north of Hispaniola.
The National Hurricane Center gives the disturbance a 60% chance to develop in the next 2 days.
The good news is regardless of development, the system is not a threat to Florida or the U.S. mainland as wind shear and steering currents will keep the system away from our area.
