The NBC2 First Alert Hurricane Tracking Team is closely monitoring the movement of Hurricane Oscar over the Atlantic Ocean.
As of 5:50 p.m. Sunday, Oscar has made another landfall, most recently in eastern Cuba. It is moving west-southwest a little slower at 6 mph, with maximum sustained winds still at 80 mph.
Oscar will bring heavy rainfall and the threat of dangerous storm surge to parts of the Bahamas and eastern Cuba through Wednesday.
Despite Oscar's relatively close proximity to Florida, it's important to stress that the storm is forecast to turn north across the Bahamas early next week and not be a direct threat to the peninsula.
Florida is being spared any direct impacts from Oscar thanks in part to a stalled front southeast of our state and a strong ridge of high pressure across the eastern half of the United States.

The forcing the storm to make a sharp turn is very noticeable as no data shows the possibility of the system moving toward the state.
Nadine has weakened and dissipated over southern Mexico. What's left of it is still producing heavy rainfall and the potential for flash flooding over Mexico and portions of Central America.
The late-season developments of Nadine and Oscar this weekend should serve as a good reminder that hurricane season continues until the end of November.
