Jaycee Park in Cape Coral will close for at least a year as the city begins a major renovation project beginning Tuesday morning, Oct. 22.
The upgrades will include a new band shell, courts, pavilions, a boat dock, and a food truck court, transforming the park into a vibrant community space once the work is completed.
For many locals, Monday night was the last chance to enjoy a stroll through the park before construction begins.
Longtime visitors expressed both sadness and excitement over the changes.
Pamela Conrowy, a dedicated park-goer, shared that she and a group of fellow seniors are planning to return tomorrow to protest the changes to the park.
“They’re closing it, but that won’t stop me!” Conrowy said with a laugh, while joking that her husband is ready to bail her out if necessary.
City officials are urging patience during the construction process, which is expected to take about a year. Residents can expect periodic updates on the park’s progress, with the newly revamped Jaycee Park, set to reopen in fall 2025.
