After two decades of searching for answers, a Fort Myers cold case involving a murder and drug trafficking was resolved.
Rodney Terrell Davis, 41, was sentenced to 40 years in prison for second degree murder with a firearm for a 2004 murder. Davis was also sentenced to 15 years in prison on drug trafficking charges.
Davis was arrested in 2022 as a result of a NETFORCE investigation. Reports say the Cape Coral man was caught arranging narcotics trafficking deals from the lee County Jail, where he was being held on separate charges.
During the investigation, Davis reportedly agreed to share information with law enforcement on his involvement with the homicide that occurred on June 12, 2004.
Reports say Davis admitted to being the shooter who killed a man on Royal Palm Avenue in Fort Myers.
According to reports, Davis' sentence will run concurrent with the sentence he is currently serving for a 2019 crime.
