An Englewood felon is facing new drug-related charges after being arrested in September for shooting a gun into his own home.
The Charlotte County Sheriff's Office says in September, Matthew Kyle Franklin, 34, was arrested on multiple charges with additional narcotics charges pending.
The narcotics charges reportedly stemmed from a suitcase found at the scene belonging to Franklin.
Following a search warrant, detectives say they found bags of suspected drugs, including cocaine, marijuana, THC wax and lollipops, mushrooms, MDMA, LSD, GHB, heroin and various pills.
In total, the amounts seized were:
- 402g of cocaine
- 199g of phenethylamines (MDMA)
- 35.4g of LSD
- 336g of psilocybin (mushrooms)
- 1.2g of heroin
- 447g of marijuana
- 25 THC wax units
- 34 alprazolam pills
- 11 amphetamine and dextroamphetamine pills
"As I said when we first arrested him, this is not someone who is struggling with addiction. This is someone who is pushing poison on our streets and has no regard for anyone else. Add in the guns and his reckless behavior, and you have all the elements to result in someone being seriously hurt … or worse. I thank my Narcotics Team for their hard work and for putting a stop to this before that happened," Sheriff Bill Prummell said.
The charges Franklin is now facing are as follows:
- Possession of a firearm by a felon
- Using a firearm while committing a felony
- Three counts of drug trafficking
- Possession of Schedule I drugs without a prescription
- Possession of heroin with intent to sell
- Possession of marijuana with intent to sell
- Three counts of possession of a controlled substance without a prescription
- Use or possession of drug paraphernalia
