If you have driven through Cape Coral Parkway, you already know how congested it can get with major backups.
On Wednesday, Cape Coral city leaders are talking about how to improve the traffic flow.
The idea is to widen the road to six lanes. This will be made by repurposing the parking and retaining the lanes.
It would all require a few tasks of course, such as designing a striping construction plan to expand the parkway from four to six lanes between Coronado Pkwy and Del Prado Boulevard.
Other tasks would include to retime signal light to optimize traffic flow, a park replacement study and an assessment of travel lane obstructions.
A design could be complete as soon as March of next year and construction starting that August.
