The City of Punta Gorda announced that regular residential yard waste services are currently suspended until further notice due to vehicle issues.
The city says the sanitation team is working hard with haulers to collect vegetative debris piles using clamshell trucks, but only loose debris can be collected at this time.
The city asks that you remove vegetative debris from cans and plastic bags, placing it in separate piles. Brown recycling bags are acceptable.
Residents are encouraged to combine yard waste into larger piles along the right-of-way, but do not place them in cul-de-sacs or near wire or poles.
There is no need to call for special pick-ups; the clamshell trucks will be following behind the haulers.
The city also says they are experiencing a high loss of trash carts and currently they only have 32-gallon carts available.
If you see any rouge carts, please report them to the Public Works Department at 941-575-5050.
