A Naples man was arrested for multiple charges in connection to the Jan. 6 storming of the Capitol.
Zachary Pearlman, 26, was arrested Thursday in Naples by FBI officials.
According to court documents, Pearlman was seen on the U.S. Capitol building closed circuit video entering the building through the Rotunda Doors around 2:45 p.m.
Officials said Pearlman walked into the Rotunda and was there when a large group of police officers came to remove the rioters.
According to the documents, Pearlman turned from a conversation he was having with other people in the crowd and eventually walked toward the police line.
Pearlman even made it to the front of the crowd and faced off with police.
According to the court documents, Pearlman began "jeering" at the officers and pointing at them repeatedly. He remained there for several minutes as officers tried to physically force the crowd out of the Rotunda.
A scrum of pushing and shoving then ensued and Pearlman extended his arm and pushed against a police officer's riot shield around 3:08 p.m., according to the court documents.
Pearlman eventually left the Rotunda and returned to the area inside the Rotunda Doors. Documents say he left the Capitol building around 3:12 p.m.
Officials said Pearlman was in the Capitol for approximately 27 minutes.
Pearlman is facing charges of the following:
- Felony offenses of assaulting, resisting or impeding certain officers and obstruction of law enforcement during a civil disorder.
- Entering or remaining in any restricted building or grounds
- Disorderly or disruptive conduct in a restricted building or grounds
- Disorderly conduct in a Capitol building or grounds
- Parading, demonstrating or picketing in a Capitol building
According to the U.S. Department of Justice news release, more than 1,532 individuals have been charged in nearly all 50 states in the 45 months since the Capitol riot.
