Lee County Commissioners are expected to vote yes on Monday for Lee Health to become a private non-profit.
A yes would allow the healthcare system to expand their services outside of Lee County, which is something they can't do as of now.
That's not all.
Lee Health tells us converting would allow more flexibility in how they operate without changing patient care.
Earlier in October, the Lee Health Board voted 9-1 to convert. The organization says privatizing would create more than 6,500 new jobs.
If commissioners approve the agreement, the conversion would not happen automatically.
The health system would first have to finish notifying insurance companies, Medicare and Medicaid to name a few.
If voted yes on Monday, this will also allow the health system to enter into more partnership opportunities with doctors, clinics and other healthcare facilities.
