The Bimini Bait Shack staff is stepping up, helping the Boathouse Tiki Bar and Grill after a devastating fire.
All that's left of the Boathouse Tiki Bar and Grill is burnt pillars after a fire is believed to have sparked in the kitchen a little over a week ago.
On Sunday, the Bimini Bait Shack held a staffing benefit.
10% of their daily sales went directly to the Boathouse's nearly 110 employees. Plus, there was a raffle prize drawing every 30 to 40 minutes throughout the day to raise money.
People filled the seats indie, even Boathouse employees.
"I just want to thank this place here at Bait Shack for doing what they did and thank everybody for coming out," said Boathouse Tiki Bar and Grill employee Tom Paultis.
Amy Lawrence, Bimini Bait Shack's general manager, said they're trying to get as much money in the employees' pockets as possible.
"It's a really bad time for restaurant staff to be out looking for a job right now because we aren't seeing our seasonal tourists in the area yet," Lawrence said. "Not a lot of places are hiring, so hopefully, this will be a band-aid for them. Help with bills, rent, things like that."
