Richard's Building is home to several businesses in downtown Fort Myers, and it has a new look that you can't miss.
The building's new, bright white paint has caused a major controversy.
That's why Fort Myers City Council decided on Wednesday whether or not it was the right decision for the new owners to do this, or reverse their work.
The city council decided in a 4-3 vote that the paint job could stay. Some council members argued it's unrealistic to return the building to its original form.
Back in August, Fort Myers Historic Preservation Commission ruled the new owners, Alessio Development, must remove the white paint.
Underneath is the original red and orange brick.
According to the city, the building was painted in March without permission.
The city issued a stop work order, but the company kept painting the building, stating they had to in order for the paint to be consistent.
Alessio Development's appeal was approved Wednesday by the council.
