A Cape Coral couple is accused of scamming two Colorado women out of millions.
According to an article from CNN, the duo allegedly claimed to own a gold mine in Africa.
Over three years, Nicole and Philip Scolaro stole more than four million dollars from two women, according to a 17-page grand indictment from the state of Colorado.
The article says the Scolaros reportedly asked for investors to help extract, secure and transport gold from their "mine."
Sources say the couple used the money to buy properties and luxury cars.
The indictment says one of the victims was an "at risk" person during the time of the scheme.
She transferred three properties to the suspects, equaling more than $2.1 million.
The indictment reads that this is not Philip's first offense. He has a lengthy criminal history, beginning in 1987 in New Jersey.
Both are charged with five counts of felony theft and securities fraud.
Body camera footage from the Lee County Sheriff's Office shows the couple being arrested at their Cape Coral home.
One of their victims died, and is unable to seek justice.
Philip also faces charges of grand theft auto and fraud charges in Florida.
It is unknown when the couple will be extradited back to Colorado.
