As you make your plans for the beach this weekend, you are going to want to be cautious.
Algae has been seen from Charlotte County through Lee County in heavier concentrations.
Now it's being found offshore in Bonita and Barefoot Beaches, as well as Marco Island in low amounts.
Red tide can cause serious breathing issues, especially if you have respiratory health concerns.
The Collier County Department of Health is advising you to be prepared to change your beach plans as we see more algae on our beaches.
Do not go swimming, or let your animals near red tide.
If you come in contact with red tide, wash your skin and clothes.
If fishing, do not eat seafood that may have come in contact with red tide.
Make sure to pay close attention if signs are posted.
The results of the next water sample will be available early next week.
