Heading into its final regular season game, Cypress Lake had already clinched its playoff berth with an impressive 3-0 sweep of its district. The Panthers defeated Estero, Island Coast and Lemon Bay to win the Class 3A District 13 title.
Mariner enters its penultimate regular season game on a two-game skid, looking to end the year on a high note with a win in the Panthers home.
Right out of the gates, Cypress Lake began its attack. The Panthers were on the board within two minutes and eventually scored on each of their first quarter drives, capitalizing off of two Mariner turnovers.
The Tritons found the endzone and put their first points on the board midway through the fourth quarter, but the Panthers were too much to handle.
