The Chubb insurance company said its pre-tax losses from last month’s Hurricane Milton totaled $250 million to $300 million.
The company announced the estimate in a brief news release Friday that said the after-tax loss amount would be $208 million to $250 million.
Milton made landfall Oct. 9 in Sarasota County as a Category 3 storm and continued across Florida as a hurricane.
Insurers and other types of businesses have gradually released loss estimates from the storm.
Chubb did not provide a more-detailed estimate of its losses, though it said they “include losses generated from the company's commercial and personal property and casualty insurance businesses as well as its reinsurance operations.”
