Florida Sen. Rick Scott has been reelected to a second term, winning the race over former Democratic U.S. Rep. Debbie Mucrasel-Powell.
The matchup was seen to be very much in Scott's favor. Scott had a large fundraising advantage, which included millions of his personal funds pumped into his campaign.
His first bid in the 2018 U.S. Senate election, however, was close in a race to unseat Democratic incumbent Bill Nelson. The race needed a recount.
Republicans now outnumber Democrats by approximately one million registered voters.
Scott hopes to succeed U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell as the GOP leader. With his win, Scott looks to earn a Senate leadership role.
