City of Fort Myers residents approved an up to $75 million "go bond" referendum in Tuesday's election.
According to a press release, the general obligation referendum funds the city to finance proposed parks and recreation improvements and land acquisition for new green space throughout Fort Myers.
A go bond is a form of debt obligation that provides local government with funds to finance large capital improvements, such as those proposed for enhanced parks and recreational facilities, according to the city's website.
The release says the city can begin planning and designing improvements and new construction across 18 proposed parks and facilities over 10 years.
The framework for the master plan focuses on revitalizing, connecting, expanding and investing in recreational spaces.
