A Hendry County man was sentenced to eight years in prison on each count, concurrent, followed by six years of probation Wednesday.
According to the state attorney's office, Stanley Byron Daniels was convicted of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and discharging a firearm and shooting at/within or into a dwelling/building.
On June 30, 2023, the Hendry County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to an apartment complex.
Two adults and two children were watching TV in the living room when they heard two gunshots.
The state attorney's office says one of the rounds broke a window, and the bullet hit a wall.
The adults picked up the children and ran to another room. The release says one woman got minor cuts from glass, but no one was seriously injured.
Deputies got information about the possible shooter and found surveillance video from a nearby convenience store.
Daniels can be seen getting out of a maroon Dodge pickup truck holding a gun.
The release says Daniels began shooting at an unknown man who was running toward the apartment complex.
A spent shell casing was also found on the ground outside the store, according to the state attorney's office.
Deputies found the truck parked in a Clewiston driveway.
As Daniels was being arrested, the gun used in the crime was found and taken into evidence.
The release says the round in the gun matched the shell casing at the convenience store.
The release says Daniels was found guilty after a one-day trial in Hendry County.
The sentence will also run concurrently with a prison sentence Daniels is currently serving in connection with a grand theft case.
