The Lee County School Board is set to meet Wednesday afternoon as two schools are considering name changes.
One of the Lee County schools being considered for a name change is Bayshore Elementary in North Fort Myers, and the reason for the change is a new outlook on the school's mission and purpose.
Some of the name options include Bayshore, The Bayshore School or Bayshore Academy.
Bayshore Academy has the most votes, according to a survey. One of the name change processes includes conversion from K-5 to K-8.
Fort Myers Middle Academy is also one of the schools that may be receiving a name change.
The reason for this is name confusion, impacts on hiring and school choice.
Some of the top name suggestions include keeping it the same, or changing it to Fort Myers Middle School, Fort Myers Candy Academy or Travis Taylor Middle School.
No decision will be made on Wednesday, but the Lee County School Board is talking about their workshop in the afternoon.
