Lely has been an offense machine this season. Through nine weeks, the Trojans are averaging 45.6 points per game, with 61.6 points per victory and were entering the final week of the regular season with a two-game winning streak. A win over district foe Aubrey Rogers would clinch the Class 3A District 14 title.
The Patriots, just in their second season, had doubled their number of wins from year one from two to four. With a win over Lely, Aubrey Rogers would move to 5-5 and tie for the top of the district.
Right out of the gates, Lely took off. Junior Zephaniah Diamond scored a 70-yard score on just the second snap of the game, and the Trojans pulled off two back-to-back interceptions, and finished out the first quarter with two Ty Collins touchdowns to lead 22-0.
The second quarter was much of the same. Collins scored his third touchdown just five seconds in, his fourth two and a half minutes later, and his fifth with 3:27 left in the half. Aubrey Rogers' Romeo Sararo found the endzone midway through the frame to put the Pats on the board. Trojans led 52-7 at the break.
Once the teams took the field for the second half, the running clock began. The only points came from Patriots quarterback Caden DiLoreto, running it in himself with 6:13 left in the fourth quarter.
Collins finished with 5 touchdowns and more than 200 rushing yards, Diamond scored twice with over 100 yards. Lely rolls and clinches the playoff berth.
FINAL: Lely 52, Aubrey Rogers 7.
