The Charlotte County Sheriff's Office arrested a man in Punta Gorda for stealing a car and selling it. According to an arrest report, the suspect sold the vehicle right from the victim’s brother’s driveway without even bothering to move it.
Timothy Raymond is facing charges of grand theft and dealing with stolen property.
The 2006 Jaguar, belonged to Tina Price. Authorities say Timothy Raymond sold the car for just $250 on Price's brother's property. Price said the home is vacant because it was badly damaged during Hurricane Milton. She parked her car there and when she returned it was gone.
Deputies said the person who bought the car from Raymond sold it to a scrapyard called Trademark Metals Recycling. The scrapyard ran the VIN number after the sale, realized the car was stolen and called 911.
The sheriff's office learned that Raymond was the culprit after the buyers, who had purchased the car from him, took photos of him during the sale.
Price is left without her car and struggling to get by.
“I had to do a couple extra jobs to try to get the money to get this car going,” she said, referring to the used car she had purchased as a replacement, which still isn’t running. “It’s kind of set me back a little bit.”
Raymond was arrested on Duncan Road on Wednesday.
