The Fort Myers Fire Department is looking to spread kindness this Thanksgiving season with the help of their food drive.
The department teamed up with Community Cooperative, that already focuses on supplying meals to families that need help. The goal is to collect as much canned food and non-perishable items until Nov. 15, to help feed at least 100 families.
"This is what it is we have the hearts of public servants, our whole job is based upon helping and giving. So this is just another way for us to actually help out some others in our community," said Chief Tracy McMillion.
You can drop off canned food at any of the 8 Fort Myers fire stations that will be placed at the front of these departments. This upcoming Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at station 11 located on Jackson Street, families can bring a non-perishable food item to spend the morning with firefighters, explore fire trucks and even take photos with Sparky.
