A prominent Marco Island shark fisherman has been arrested after being accused of embezzling money from a church in Hodgenville, Kentucky.
On Oct. 28, Hodgenville Police received a complaint filed by a church regarding a theft.
The complaint stated the church paid John David Boggs, 50, to replace the roof of their building for $194,791 in April of 2023.
According to a news release, Boggs never started the work, with multiple attempts to get him to complete the job failing.
The Hodgenville Police Department was able to locate Boggs in Marco Island, and issued a warrant.
With the assistance of the Collier County Sheriff's Office, Boggs was taken into custody and is waiting to be extradited to Hodgenville.
