Two teens accused of shooting and killing a Clewiston teen have bail set at more than $1 million after a court appearance on Thursday.
Jayden Lawson and Roosevelt Adderly III , both 15 years old, were initially facing charges as juveniles and have now been charged as adults.
The Hendry County Sheriff's Office said the two teens are known gang members and are accused of killing 16-year-old Ja'Yhanna Johnson while they were waiting for a rival gang, who they thought they saw before opening fire.
Instead, the teens ended up striking and killing Johnson. Adderly is Johnson's cousin, according to the Hendry County Sheriff's Office.
Adderly and Lawson had their arraignment, where the judge denied the motion to hold them without bond, according to a deputy court administrator.
Each teen's bond was set at $1 million for count one, second-degree murder, and $25,000 for count two, conspiracy to commit second-degree murder.
Arraignment was initially scheduled for Oct. 29, but it was rescheduled for Nov. 12.
If both teens bond out, the court orders them to wear electronic monitors, remain within Hendry County without prior approval, and they may not contact each other or the victim's family.
Additionally, Lawson is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday for an unrelated case for possession of marijuana, which he is being charged as a juvenile.
Adderly and Lawson are scheduled to make their next appearance in court on December 30.
