Cape Coral has been discussing changes to the regulations on your boat canopies and sun shelters for the past few months, and they want you to join the conversation on Wednesday.
This would change the material and design requirements, as well as the specifications and height requirements.
Your supports and frames will have to be of a corrosion resistant material and they will need to be arranged in an open design to allow visibility through the sides.
The fabric will have to be able to be folded and rolled without damage. All canopies, supports and frames have to be in good repair at all times.
Additionally, when it comes to height, no boat canopy may exceed 40 feet in length or 18 feet in width.
Only one canopy is allowed per single home property unless your water frontage length is greater than 80 feet.
Then a second boat canopy is allowed in that case with some conditions.
Cape Coral City Council will be going over this during their special meeting at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, and you are invited to share your thoughts.
