Paul Beattie of Beattie Development agreed to give up his licenses in Florida after several customers filed complaints with the state about the home builder.
Cape Coral police raided Beattie's office in August.
Earlier in November, a Miami woman sued Beattie claiming he did not finish construction on her Cape Coral home that started in 2022.
The following are some elements that were included in Beattie's settlement agreement :
- Beattie will neither admit nor deny the allegations of fact.
- He entered into a settlement agreement.
- Admits the facts set forth in the administrative complaints, if proven, would violate Florida law.
- He understands the Construction Industry Licensing Board's acceptance of this stipulation means disciplinary action.
- He agreed to voluntarily give up his designation as a certified contractor, certified plumbing contractor and certified roofing contractor for his licenses.
- He will immediately cease all construction activities related to one of the licenses.
- Beattie agreed to a $300,000 fine and $1,000 in investigative costs if he ever tries to reapply for a license as a contractor of a financially responsible officer in Florida.
