A manatee that was trapped in a residential canal system after Hurricane Milton's flooding was rescued.
Crews with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, Clearwater Marine Aquarium, Mote Marine Laboratory and Aquarium and Charlotte County Sheriff's Office joined forces to save the manatee.
The eight-foot female manatee swam into the canal during Milton and wasn't able to get back out after the floodwaters receded, according to CCSO.
She was rescued on Nov. 8, and CCSO's aviation unit was sky-high capturing the rescue on video.
According to FWC, the manatee was taken to ZooTampa at Lowry Park for a medical evaluation.
FWC said anyone can call its Wildlife Alert Hotline at 888-404-3922 if they come across a sick, injured or stranded manatee.
