As of the 4pm advisory, Tropical Storm Sara maintains maximum sustained winds of 50mph.
Tropical Storm Sara continues to dump large amounts of rain over Honduras and portions of Central America. Sara motion has continually slowed throughout the day with only a forward motion of 2mph towards the west.
That slow motion over mountainous areas can lead to deadly mudslides and life threatening flooding.
The latest forecast for Sara shows the storm dissipating over the Yucatan peninsula this weekend, with the remnants of the system moving into the Gulf of Mexico early next week.
It appears unlikely that Sara will redevelop over the Gulf next week, but we'll need to monitor the system to be sure.
What's more likely is the leftover tropical moisture from Sara will merge with a cold front moving through the Gulf coast states early next week, which will bring us higher rain chances on Wednesday.
