Amazon has purchased more than 143 acres of land off SR-82 just east of I-75 in Fort Myers.
The purchase comes two years after the City of Fort Myers denied permitting for a warehouse just down the road.
LSI Companies, Inc. brokered the deal on the 143.20± acre commercial property for $66,500,000, according to the company, which the city has confirmed.
"This transaction has been years in the making, and we are all very excited for what’s to come,” stated Justin Thibaut, President & CEO of LSI Companies, Inc. “This is a huge win for Southwest Florida, and the large-scale project to emerge here will further accelerate the rapid economic growth already occurring within the City of Fort Myers.”
Amazon operates many large facilities, including fulfillment centers, sortation centers, delivery stations, Prime Now hubs, and more.
Amazon currently operates two large fulfillment centers less than 10 miles away in south Fort Myers off Alico Road.
