The Lee County Sheriff’s Office arrested three people Sunday night for street racing in a warehouse parking lot along Tri-County Commerce Way in Fort Myers.
"You come in one day; it looks a certain way. Then the next day, you'll see donut tires everywhere and skid marks everywhere,” said Johnathan Figuerao, who works at the warehouse.
Lee County deputies said Edgar Cora, Braden Remus and James Thompson were doing donuts in the parking lot.
"People could be working late. Someone could be out there checking trucks or doing something, and, you know, you come flying and you could hurt somebody or yourself,” said Figuerao.
LCSO said they got a call for reckless driving and shots fired. They saw tire marks in the area and found shell casings as cars tried to leave.
Deputies said Cora was in a black Corvette and stopped, but wouldn’t say his name and birthday, then tried to walk away.
Once deputies handcuffed Cora, they found out he had a warrant out of Charlotte County.
LCSO said Thompson and Remus were in a white f-150 and took off when deputies tried to pull them over. They were both charged with loitering.
Cora is facing charges of resisting arrest, having an out-of-county warrant, and a suspended driver’s license.
