Lee County is moving forward with the Alico Road Extension Project to address increasing traffic demands in the area.
The project is designed to connect San Carlos Park and Lehigh Acres, providing a single, seamless roadway to reduce congestion and improve accessibility.
The extension will link the current Green Meadow intersection on Alico Rd to State Route 82, opposite the Sunshine Boulevard intersection.
This new connection is an effort to ease traffic in eastern Lee County as the area continues to grow rapidly.
The county is gearing up for phases two and three of the project, which will further enhance connectivity and traffic flow.
Residents can learn more about these upcoming phases during a public meeting on Thursday.
The event will be held in an open-house format, allowing attendees to drop in anytime between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the Veterans Park and Recreation Center on Homestead Road S in Lehigh Acres.
