A Port Charlotte man is behind bars for breaking into his neighbor’s home on Dallas Street. What deputies found inside the home was bizarre.
It was just after 4 a.m. Sunday when deputies were called to the scene. They said Billy Belcher broke into the home by prying open a sliding patio door with a knife. While the homeowner was away, the crime was captured on security cameras.
When deputies arrived, they found Belcher had made himself at home—his dentures were left on the floor by the couch, and the TV was still on.
Several drawers had been opened, and there was blood on the washing machine. Investigators believe Belcher cut his hand while breaking in.
Deputies arrested Belcher on the lanai. He remains in the Charlotte County Jail without bond as he awaits trial.
