A Lehigh Acres man pleaded guilty on Thursday to attempting to have sex with a minor.
According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, Cosme Bejaran, 34, communicated with an undercover law enforcement officer posing as a 14-year-old girl on May 17 of 2024.
After learning the girl's age, Bejaran began a sexually explicit conversation, before asking for explicit photos and sending one himself.
The release said Bejaran was arrested by Lee County Sheriff's Office deputies after arriving at a home while intending to engage in sexual activity with the girl.
Bejaran pleaded guilty to charges of attempted enticement of a minor to engage in sexual activity and attempted transfer of obscene matter to a minor.
According to the release, Bejaran faces a minimum penalty of 10 years, up to life, in federal prison.
A sentencing date has not yet been set.
