The City of Naples is investigating a field supervisor following allegations of "embezzlement, questionable purchases, and missing items," according to City Staff.
The investigation comes following an anonymous letter sent to the City Manager, City Council, the City's Finance Director, and NBC2 News. It claims:
- A city field supervisor used a City of Naples credit card to spend thousands of dollars on tools for a private company.
- That same employee then sold the tools to construction workers in Collier County at a reduced price.
- The employee then pocketed the difference.
The document also accused the employee of stealing City of Naples gas for a personal vehicle and bragging about it to others at work.
The City of Naples tells NBC2 that the investigation is in the process of being finalized. Count on NBC2 to let you know if criminal charges are filed.
