FGCU Volleyball still reigns over the Atlantic Sun Conference. For the fourth straight season, the Eagles have won the ASUN Tournament championship.
Top-seeded FGCU swept second-seeded Lipscomb 3-0 in the tournament finals on Saturday night.
This is the first time in program history FGCU has won four consecutive titles.
"It's pretty special," FGCU head coach Matt Botsford said. "The first one is always special. To do it four times in a row, that's a pretty exciting feat for these girls. Something we've been talking about for the last few months. I'm so happy that they were able to get it done."
After Saturday's game, FGCU now sits at 27-4 overall and 15-1 in conference play. The Eagles only dropped one set the entire ASUN Tournament.
Southwest Florida native and Barron Collier High School alum Skylar English was named the ASUN Tournament MVP. Shelby Kent and Shanelle Puetz also earned All-Tournament Team honors.
"This means everything," Kent said. "But we're not done yet, not done yet. We still got more to go."
"Championship Saturday is exciting, but nothing's more exciting than Selection Sunday," English added. "That's what we told ourselves the whole time. We were going to get there, and that was our goal."
With the championship comes an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. FGCU will find out where it lands on the bracket and who it will play during Selection Sunday on Dec. 1.
