In the wake of money laundering allegations against Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno, NBC2 has obtained a letter from Lee County Clerk Kevin Karnes.
The letter warns of possible financial risks Lee County could face following the alleged fraud within the sheriff's office.
This week, sources told NBC2 Marceno was served with a subpoena with the addresses of both LCSO headquarters and his home.
It is unclear at this time who else may have been served in connection to this.
NBC2 reached out to the county manager, county attorney and county commissioners, but either did not get a response or were told they have no comment.
This all comes after allegations of a kickback scheme allegedly orchestrated by the sheriff.
NBC2 also reached out to the sheriff's office. A spokesperson said they always work with their law enforcement partners, but otherwise had no comment.
The FBI told NBC2 it does not confirm or deny the status of any investigations. Sources tell NBC2 that all the evidence gathered by the FBI is expected to be presented to a federal grand jury next week.
