Fort Myers Auction, an online auction company, is helping remove what's left of the Shell Factory.
There's not much left of the iconic North Fort Myers building outside, but if you take a step inside, it's a fantasy land. The building still has several items inside, like Christmas trees and ornaments, even after being closed for two months.
Jared Cox, owner of Fort Myers Auction, said the company that's dealing with the liquidation of the Shell Factory reached out to Cox. He put in a bid, and then Shell Factory accepted it.
Cox created a virtual auction for them, so they can clear out their building for good. However, it's not every day he gets to work with an iconic business.
"It's an honor to get selected to help the owners take care of this asset, this labor of love that they owned for 27 years," Cox said. "It's an iconic piece of North Fort Myers and Fort Myers in general. It's sad to see it go, but we'd like to have pieces of it stay in the community."
In the first auction that ends in two weeks, you may find Santa, Christmas trees, or Santa holding a Christmas tree!
"For December 10, we bust our butts to try and get it done before Christmas because there's so many Christmas items," Cox said.

Cox said the most sought-after pieces are the large statues.
"That's typically the interesting pieces that people want to put in their man cave or their garage or something like that," he said.
Bidders have to make an online account. Online bidding closes December 10 at 7 p.m.
Cox said when the auction ends, bidders will get an email about an in-person pickup.
If you're hoping to get some iconic pieces of history, like the Shell Factory sign, there will be another online bid in January.
