Two men were arrested after being accused of selling over $1,000 worth of stolen landscaping material in Collier County.
Gerson Mount, 32, and Humberto Miranda, 47, are facing charges after being accused of selling multiple loads of fill dirt and base rock behind the company's back.
The Collier County Sheriff's Office responded to the area of 1851 Mesa Lane after Earth Tech Enterprises reported a theft in the area of 1851 Mesa Lane.
The company's president, Christopher Gehring, reported that Mount confessed to selling "at least" two mounts of fill dirt for approximately $1,000 and two loads of base rock for approximately $800.
Reports state the sale was made to a Hispanic male in a red truck, later identified as Miranda.
Gehring told deputies that another employee witnessed several loads being stolen on Saturday, Nov. 16, which he said was "fishy" because no dump trucks are allowed on the property during weekends.
Surveillance video from the site showed a trucked coming in and out of the area.
Mount told detectives that Miranda approached him multiple times, asking him for a sale at a discounted price.
Reports state that "Mount resisted the male (Miranda), but recently became desperate for money."
On Nov. 15 and 16, Mount reportedly sold four total loads of stolen material.
Both Mount and Miranda were arrested on Nov. 20 and taken to the Collier County Jail.
Mount is facing grand theft, dealing in stolen property. Miranda is facing a charge of dealing in stolen property.
