A Clewiston police officer and his family are facing heartbreak after losing their home, belongings and three pets in a fire.
Officer Raul Garza was on duty when he received received the news that his house in LaBelle was on fire.
Firefighters and deputies responded to the scene on S Indio Circle where they said all people inside the home were able to make it out safely. Police said three of the family's pets died in the blaze.
According to reports, the fire destroyed the home and the contents inside, leaving officer Garza, his girlfriend and six children, ages eight to 16, without clothing or belongings.
The Clewiston Police Department is reaching out to the community for support to help the family recover.
Donations can be made through a GoFundMe page set up to assist Officer Garza and his family during this difficult time. The GoFundMe is titled, " Support Officer Garza's Family After House Fire ."
Contributions will help them rebuild and provide for the children as they navigate the devastating loss.
