A Naples man hopes dash cam footage will help catch a woman who stole from his truck while he worked nearby.
Diego Micale said that he parked his truck on 102nd Avenue North while pressure washing windows at a client’s home. When he returned to grab a business card, he noticed something was wrong.
“My driver’s seat was soaked with spilled soda, and the glove compartment was open,” Micale said in Spanish. “That’s when I realized something wasn’t right.”
Dash cam footage shows a woman, easily identifiable by her bright pink cap and long brown hair, casually walking up to Micale’s truck, opening the door, and rummaging through the center console.
The video captures her accidentally knocking over Micale’s soda before leaving with about $50 in cash and two backpacks containing his and his son’s soccer gear.
Micale said what especially caught his attention was that the woman used a handkerchief, likely to avoid leaving fingerprints.
“It leaves you with a sense of helplessness,” he said. “You can’t do much except leave it in the hands of the police and hope someone recognizes her now that I’ve shared the video on social media.”
The suspect has distinctive tattoos, including stars on her hand and a word beginning with “P” on her wrist. She was last seen leaving the scene in a black Nissan Rogue.
Micale remains optimistic about finding her. “I’m confident we’ll catch her soon,” he said.
The Collier County Sheriff’s Office is investigating. Anyone with information is asked to call their office.
