Fort Myers Beach residents will have one last chance to share their thoughts on the proposed high-rise redevelopment of the former Red Coconut RV Park.
There has been pushback from residents on the original plans for high-rise condos going in place of the former Red Coconut RV Park.
Residents tell NBC2 it would take away from the "small-town charm," though Seagate developers still plan to build several high rises.
If the developers get their way, we may see new housing with more than 140 units, restaurants and a 29,000-square-foot beach club.
It would also include up to nine 15-story towers.
There could also be a public park with enhanced beach access, a linear park and a pedestrian overpass.
After the first public hearing earlier in 2024, the developers said they would make changes after pushback from residents.
One of those changes would be allowing 20% of members of the beach club to be to residents who live on the island.
We know some residents we spoke to are for the new progress, taking the island in a new direction.
On Monday, the town wants to hear from you, the residents, one last time about what you'd like to see.
