A Port Charlotte man was arrested on Sunday after being accused of possessing child sexual abuse material on his cellphone and Xbox.
The Charlotte County Sheriff's Office arrested John David De Angelis, 58, on Sunday after deputies conducted a search warrant on his home.
The arrest report states from February 22,2024, to September 23, 2024, Microsoft BING became aware of child pornography on their servers.
Microsoft submitted the cyber-tips with the associated IP addresses which deputies said connected to De Angelis' account located on Newnan Circle in Port Charlotte.
The report states that Microsoft BING made numerous reports to the National Center for Missing and Endangered Children and reported a total of over 189 suspected child sexual abuse material (CSAM) files being uploaded to their search engine.
Two of the files reported by Microsoft BING for De Angelis' contained photos of a nude female toddler which led to deputies getting a search warrant in order.
On Sunday, deputies said they contacted De Angelis at his home where he was reportedly alone, and willing to speak with detectives.
The arrest report states that De Angelis admitted quickly that he knew why deputies were searching his home.
De Angelis reportedly told deputies that, "he was looking up things that he should not be." He also told deputies that he has been searching and viewing child pornography for approximately six years.
Deputies reported that the CSAM files were of victims between one and nine years of age.
De Angelis also reportedly told deputies that he only searches for child phonography using Microsoft BING with his Xbox and cellphone.
While in the house, deputies said they found the Xbox in one of the rooms. Deputies performed an on-scene preview of the content on the Xbox where they said approximately 25-30 tabs were already open with images and websites containing child pornography.
Deputies said De Angelis told them his wife does not know of the activity he was involved in.
De Angelis was arrested and is facing eight counts of possession of obscene material.
