It's a work in progress at the Sanibel School, but a progress nonetheless as students and staff are returning to homebase on Monday morning almost two months after Hurricane Milton.
The school took on about eight to ten inches of water in the lower parts of the campus.
Crews had to rip out the carpet and drywall while students had to go to Heights Elementary for the time being.
After crews worked to fix the damage, Monday finally marks the return of students and staff back in their classrooms at the upper half of the school.
Crews will continue to work on repairing the lower half.
As for the other school left damaged, Fort Myers Beach Elementary, there is still no word on when students and staff will have the green light to return.
