A man is dead after falling from a piece of heavy machinery he was working on in LaBelle Tuesday morning.
According to the Hendry County Sheriff's Office, a call came into 911 at 3:38 a.m. reporting that a man had fallen while working on a machine and was severely injured, and had possibly died.
The incident happened at 3338 Congen Road, a South Florida Water Management project area.
Hendry County detectives believe the death was accidental.
OSHA is responding to the scene along with representatives of the equipment company.
HCSO said the equipment was owned by Phillips & Jordan Inc. and the company will be issuing a statement later on Tuesday. It is unclear at this time if the victim was an employee of the company.
No further information has been provided at this time as HCSO said it is still too early in the investigation.
