Villas Wesleyan Church is beginning to rebuild its sanctuary after a fire destroyed it in February.
There is still no roof on the outside, and there now sits a stripped stage, a welded beam and a broken ceiling fan on the inside.
For the past 9 months or so, they've held their services in the gym.
"We're able to do so many good things now through that process," said Pastor Brian Cooper. "Being the new pastor coming in town, I kind of helped the church to process and mourn the loss, but also be excited about what's coming."
Cooper and his wife, Bethany, started at the church in June, four months after the fire. However, the destruction didn't scare them away.
"When Brian and I were interviewing to come here, one of the questions that some of the leadership had was, 'Why did we want to come here when they had a burnt building?'" said Bethany Cooper.
She said they were looking for what God wanted them to do in this situation.
Cooper said the hope is to have a demo done in the next 30 days, stripping the sanctuary down to just the concrete walls and floors. After that, he said it's up to the insurance company to start redoing the inside
"We just submitted our permits to the county," he said "Right now, I think we're looking at probably eight to 10 months, which is actually really fast."
Cooper said the sanctuary should be back up and running around November 2025.
