In the aftermath of Hurricane Milton, Punta Gorda residents have been working hard to clean up the mess left behind.
Debris piles once flooded neighborhoods; some even double the height of an average person.
On Monday, the city is conducting its final sweep of storm debris, urging residents to set out their piles for collection along the curb.
To ensure your debris is picked up, make sure it’s separated properly. Vegetative debris, such as branches and leaves, should be in one pile, while other materials like construction debris should be in another.
Keeping these piles organized and at the curb will help the city avoid any delays or missed collections.
Additionally, residents are reminded not to park on the side of the street, as this can obstruct the debris trucks.
If you forget to set something out, don’t worry. The city encourages residents to call the Public Works Department to schedule a pickup.
Once the final sweep is completed, the sanitation department will return to its regular collection schedule.
Starting this Friday, they’ll begin picking up white household appliances, including refrigerators, air conditioners, and dishwashers.
