A study conducted by the City of Cape Coral revealed 3,800 speeders passed Patriot Elementary in just one day, while most schools saw numbers in the hundreds.
The city has said it is time to get some cameras installed and running, and now we have a timeframe for when that will happen.
We will be learning more about the big safety project on Wednesday morning.
In less than a month, by Jan. 6, we could see those cameras up and running. This is also the first day students return to the classroom from winter break.
Once the cameras are operating, if you are clocked on camera going just 10 miles per hour over the speed limit - you will be fined $100.
You can expect that bill in the mail, and you will have just 30 days to pay it.
We know utility construction for the cameras is happening throughout December.
The city's Transportation Board is set to meet on Wednesday morning for further discussions.
