For three months, the family of Jona Brown has had to grieve a father, son and brother. We spoke with them just days after Jona died in a tragic motorcycle crash on Sept. 14.
"I had to tell her that daddy wasn't coming back home. And that may be the toughest thing I ever do. I never thought I would have to say that to my daughter," Jona's wife, Alexandra Brown, told NBC2 news.
Now, LCSO says the crash was no accident. According to newly released reports, deputies found Jona's bike and body on 1-75 near Corkscrew Road.
They also found an abandoned BMW 5 miles away near Alico Road. Witnesses told deputies the car crashed into the motorcycle multiple times and then drove away.
Three hours later, deputies say Amed Rodriguez Suarez went to Cape Coral Police to admit he was involved in the crash. LCSO finally finished its investigation and submitted a warrant to arrest Suarez to the State Attorney's office.
Once the SAO approved, Suarez was handcuffed in Miami last Friday and transported to Lee County Jail.
Suarez is now facing charges of vehicular homicide and leaving the scene of a crash.
